Charlotte Findlater Design and Build S.L. is recruiting for a mid-level Interior Designer or Interior Architect to join our Menorca studio in Maó.
This is a studio-based, client-facing and site-facing role for someone with strong technical ability, excellent design judgement and the confidence to work across high-end residential projects in Menorca. The role will suit a designer who can move comfortably between concept development, technical drawing, supplier coordination, material specification, FF&E detailing and on-site problem solving.
This is not a remote role. The successful candidate will be expected to work from our Menorca studio and attend project sites, supplier meetings and client meetings as required.
About Charlotte Findlater Design and Build SL
We are a full-service architecture and interior design studio creating bespoke, high-end homes across the UK and Menorca.
Our work combines architecture, interiors, landscape-led thinking, natural materials, craftsmanship and a deep respect for place. We believe that exceptional design should not only be beautiful, but responsible, practical, enduring and connected to the natural world.
Sustainability is central to how we work. It shapes how we think about materials, suppliers, detailing, project decisions and the long-term impact of the homes we create.
Our Menorca work includes full villa renovations, new builds, consultation, interior architecture, bespoke interiors, exterior living spaces, supplier coordination and detailed project delivery. The studio operates in a hands-on environment where design quality, technical accuracy, communication and follow-through matter.
About the Menorca Studio
Our Menorca studio is located on the port in Maó. It supports our island-based residential projects and works closely with local suppliers, contractors, craftspeople and clients.
This is a working design studio, not a remote design post. The role involves being physically present in the studio, visiting sites, meeting suppliers, reviewing samples, preparing drawings and documentation, coordinating information and helping ensure that the design intent is carried through into delivery.
Menorca is a highly distinctive design environment. Its rural landscapes, coastal setting, Mediterranean climate, traditional materials and sensitive ecological context all shape the way we approach residential design on the island. We are looking for someone who understands that luxury design in Menorca must be elegant, technically resolved and environmentally responsible.
The Role
As a Mid/ Senior Level Interior Designer / Interior Architect, you will support and lead elements of high-end residential projects from concept through to completion.
You will be expected to contribute creatively, technically and practically. This means developing strong design ideas, producing accurate drawings, preparing schedules and specifications, coordinating with suppliers and contractors, and helping resolve issues on site.
You will need to be organised, commercially aware, detail-focused and comfortable working in a fast-moving studio where standards are high and accountability matters.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Develop interior architecture and interior design concepts for high-end residential projects.
- Produce accurate technical drawings, layouts, elevations, joinery details and construction information.
- Prepare specifications, schedules, finishes documentation and FF&E information.
- Source and specify materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, sanitaryware, ironmongery and bespoke items.
- Coordinate with local suppliers, makers, contractors and specialist consultants.
- Attend site visits, supplier meetings and client meetings across Menorca.
- Support project delivery from early concept through to installation and completion.
- Help ensure that drawings, specifications and site decisions reflect the approved design intent.
- Research responsible materials, circular design opportunities and lower-impact specification options.
- Communicate clearly with clients, contractors, suppliers and the wider Charlotte Findlater team.
- Work collaboratively with the UK and Menorca teams where projects or studio processes overlap.
What We Are Looking For
Essential requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in high-end residential interior design, interior architecture or a closely related role.
- Strong technical drawing ability.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
- Good understanding of construction detailing, residential refurbishment and site coordination.
- Strong FF&E knowledge, including furniture, finishes, lighting, fabrics, sanitaryware and bespoke specification.
- Excellent written and spoken Spanish.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Valid driving licence.
- Right to live and work in Spain.
- Ability to be based in Menorca without relocation support.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence communicating with clients, contractors and suppliers.
- A genuine interest in natural materials, sustainability, regenerative design and responsible sourcing.
Desirable:
- French language skills.
- Experience working on island, coastal, Mediterranean or heritage residential projects.
- Experience with Spanish suppliers, contractors or local project delivery.
- Knowledge of sustainable materials, low-impact finishes and circular design principles.
- Experience preparing client presentations, sample boards and design documentation.
- Experience supporting full project life cycle delivery, from concept to installation.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is:
- Technically precise.
- Design-led but practical.
- Calm under pressure.
- Comfortable on site.
- Confident with suppliers and contractors.
- Highly organised.
- Detail-obsessed.
- Proactive rather than passive.
- Interested in sustainability beyond surface-level language.
- Able to work independently while still contributing to a collaborative studio culture.
This role will not suit someone looking for a purely conceptual design position. It will suit someone who wants to be close to the making, detailing and delivery of exceptional homes.
Why Join Us?
You will be joining a design studio with a clear ethos, a distinctive project portfolio and a serious commitment to responsible design.
You will have the opportunity to work on high-end residential projects in one of the Mediterranean’s most distinctive settings, while contributing to a studio that values craftsmanship, natural materials, ecological responsibility and long-term design quality.
We expect high standards, but we also believe in supporting people to develop their skill, judgement and confidence. This is a role for someone who wants to grow within a thoughtful, ambitious and values-led studio.
