The home renovation design brief

To seamlessly blend formal and informal, whilst representing the clients’ love of animals and achieve an holistic flow through these principal rooms. Our approach marries luxury interior design with our deeply rooted ethos of connecting spaces with the natural world.

The Study: a dark elegance

We chose to go dark on the bespoke in-house custom-made cabinetry, including in the design a pull-out map draw which our clients love. The light is a real focus, echoing the distinct colours represented in the cat, the main feature in the gorgeous wallpaper. The colours within the paper connect to the mountainous landscape beyond, thus creating a dialogue between inside and out.

The Dining Room: a nod to heritage

The dining room had some wonderful architectural details that we wanted to highlight including the original fireplace that we restored and the mirror above that we carefully repaired. Our clients wanted to keep some of their own heirloom furniture, so we incorporated these into our design as well as commissioning a stunning hand-blown central pendant and glass wall lights which evoke a plate and bowl. We sourced a collection of antique Royal Copenhagen fine bone China plates representing various freshwater fish that can all be found within the rivers and streams that abound the area. Every detail was meticulously planned and sourced for this space right down to the dinner service, even the napkins! It truly is a room that will host many special occasion and is much admired!

The Lounge: glamourous yet eclectic

The lounge had to accommodate up to ten people and would be used often for entertaining. A glamorous rich but eclectic look was the brief harmonizing with the rest of the home. The seating in the lounge is meant for conversation, this room is a perfect example of what good art does for a space.

Hallways: first impressions matter

When we enter a home it is most important to be greeted by a feeling, a first impression. Curiosity about what is to come, a preview yet have its own identity. Our clients had some existing artwork that they loved when they viewed them in the gallery, however when they took the paintings home they struggled to incorporate them into their primary spaces. This new home presented us with the opportunity to make them centre stage, because great art can generate excitement, be it a sculpture, a painting or photograph and makes those that enter the home interested to see what lies beyond. Working with some stunning existing architectural features which we restored, a calm colour palette was selected which we ran from the entrance porch right the way through along the landings upstairs. Taking up the old floor boards that had sadly become too brittle and laying new bespoke engineered wood flooring in its place. Sticking true to our ethos of repairing, recycling, re-using materials, these old boards were repurposed as the wall cladding behind the bar and would house the large tv screen in the bar we custom designed within this home.
